On Wednesday 1st February: Amina MWRC, in partnership with the Dundee Carers Centre, celebrated the launch of its Carers Befriending Project. The event took place at the Dundee Carers Centre in Argyll House, West Marketgait, the project was formally launched by the Lord Provost, John Letford.
The new project will allow carers from the Muslim and other minority communities to be linked with a befriender and take part in a wide range of activities which aim to alleviate isolation and promote social integration. The services we provide are individual befriending, group befriending and telephone befriending. We are planning a range of activities and outings from lunch clubs to walking groups and shopping trips for women to participate in. We will also be supporting a group of carers to undertake a residential trip in June 2012.
The project is made possible with funding from The Gannochy Trust, Lankely and the Short Break Fund. For more information regarding the project please get in touch with Khadija Hussein on 01382 224687 or by email khadija@mwrc.org.uk
