We have an ongoing campaign within our ending Violence against Women programme called YouCanChangeThis which we would love for you to get involved in!

YouCanChangeThis is a campaign encouraging everyone to play their part in ending violence against women and girls.

How can you play your part?

Could you submit a blog dedicated to the issues surrounding ending Violence against Women and girls?  Alternatively, a blog empowering Muslim and BME women to become more active, confident and sharing wisdom/inspiration in the hope of helping the readers take positive steps in their lives. This could range from starting a business to leaving an abusive relationship, settling in a new country, embarking on a new career, challenging sexism in school and so on.

So far, we have one woman who is embarking on a career in IT and one who was a woman’s rights activist in Canada. We would love stories from women who are thriving after divorce, women who have accessed women’s aid services, women who have helpful methods of self-care to share such as yoga or nature walks, and we’re sure you will have your own ideas too.

If you could post the following hashtag #womantowoman after each blog,it would highlight the way that women empower each other.

The blog could be published on your own site or via Amina. You can submit the blog with a photograph and your name or remain completely anonymous.

Even if you can’t write a blog but you have a story to share, we would love to hear from you!

Helpline

The helpline is a listening ear for women across Scotland. All calls are strictly confidential and non-judgemental; we always deal with clients in a faith and culturally-sensitive manner.

We can help women in English, Urdu, Arabic, Bangla and Swahili and, when required, using online interpreting.
